This small culinary knife will serve you well with prep tasks and light butchery. The octagonal handle has a dramatic taper so that it’s smaller near the blade for control during detailed kitchen tasks.
The handle is made from Brazilian ironwood and Gaboon ebony.
This blade is composed of 3 layers of metal (known as San Mai) which has been forge welded in house and drawn out. this laminate has a core of high carbon 1084 steel and is clad in historic wrought iron.
True wrought iron is a particularly rare form of iron which was made using a puddling process prior to the Industrial Revolution. It has a few very unique properties and is no longer produced, having been replaced by more pure and refined metallurgical technology. Due to its non homogeneous alloy, it etches into a beautiful and uniquely unpredictable pattern.
